I ran my first 3 marathons in 1983, 84 and 86. I then got busy with life, wife, my children and with work.

Some 14 years later a friend pointed out that I had put on 15 kilos and it was time to run a marathon again. I ran my 4th marathon with him in 2001 and caught the bug again. I’ve been forever grateful to my friend for pointing out my excess weight and issuing me a marathon challenge.

Fast forward to 2019 and I’ve run at both ends of the Earth and at least one marathon on each continent. Unfortunately, there were not enough finishers in my African marathon to qualify as a Globetrotter continent marathon. That’s great news because it gives me another excuse to visit Africa.

I met Wendell, a Canadian Globetrotter when I was in Toyko in 2018. He encouraged me to complete 10 continents and join this club. I look forward to meeting other globetrotters in events still to come.
