Ingrid Laura Featherstone

I'm originally from a small southern UK town called Lymington, in Hampshire, but I left after college and became a Londoner. It's great here, always so much going on and full of history. My running club Highgate Harriers trains on Parliament Hill Fields Athletics Track and fields, which is the site where Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605. I started running marathons in 2010. I got some people to sponsor me for a charity run, I needed focus and I found it helped me regain confidence to move to a new city and find a new job. I got more into travelling and running because it seemed more glam than running just in UK and one of my first was in Jerusalem which was just beautiful and I recommend to everyone. I broke a couple of middle distance records at school for 1500 metres in two different age groups, I was faster then than now but I love to run in the same way! Definitely a life long passion I've just increased the distances and developed stronger endurance. I have two favourite marathons: the Marine Corps Marathon because it was so moving running through the "Run To Remember" alley with the pictures of Marines who fought and died to keep USA safe. I loved how the American Flag could always be seen as I ran! And how kind the Marines were serving us refreshments. My joint favourite is Tromsø because it was just so far from anywhere in the Arctic Circle and it was an exquisite town so unique and beautiful. I ate reindeer meat too... I am a King's College, Cambridge English Literature graduate and love watching theatre as well as enjoying reading and the cinema. The Arts are very important to me especially Theatre. I've loved watching famous actors on stage in Broadway and on the West End. I've done a bit of sports writing and would like to do more. My work is working for Berlitz Education Company which is very old - nearly 150 years - and classic. We sometimes have quite famous clients some of whose names are a closely guarded secret but it is fun meeting unusual clients and teaching (one to one) our very empirical materials.
