Eddie Hahn

I started running at the age of 12 when I got bored during a 10 KM walkathon in Corvallis OR US where my mom and a coworker were raising money thru their employer for the March of Dimes for birth defects. My mom and her friend were smoking and walking slowly. I "jogged" ahead to get the required footmark at each kilometer before them, then jogged back. The next year I signed up for the walkathon on my own and ran it. I ran cross country and track in high school all 4 years. I ran my first marathon in Portland OR in 1984, the fall after graduating high school before joining the US Marine Corps reserves. In 1986 I joined the US Army as an enlisted supply clerk and retired in 2006 in the same field (logistics) with a short foray into Army recruiting. I earned an associate degree in liberal arts in 2009 from Citrus College and a BA in Communication Studies in 2012 from CSUSB (both California) With a downturn in employment after finishing my degree, I eventually settled on intermittent unskilled labor to supplement my retirement and raise a young family alone. Currently working in an Amazon warehouse. As of 2024 son Julian 18, Francis 14, is in 9th grade, and their sister, Sam, is 21. I have finished 332 marathons including one per United State (as of Oct 2014) inspired by my Uncle Robert Hildebrandt, a disabled Vietnam Veteran who was the first Alaskan resident to finish a marathon per state in 2007 (after he "challenged" me at my 14th marathon in Los Angeles in 1996.) (He achieved over 120 marathons finished before retiring due to strokes.) To my knowledge, I am the first/only finisher who started a states marathon journey in Portland (OR) and finished in Portland (ME)
