John Lum Young

Hi Marathon Globetrotters, I am John from Trinidad and Tobago, home of the oldest Caribbean marathon. Since a boy I have been intrigued by the marathon, many many moons before I became a runner. You may find it strange but I actually found 26.2mls attractive & enticing, even though I disliked running. My first marathon was in 1994 (age 34), my 2nd in 2000 and my 3rd in 2002 (believe me, running was just a necessary evil). Only in 2005 I developed the love for our sport and became an avid runner. To date (March 2019), I have run 127 marathons in 63 countries. On this journey, I have met some wonderful & unforgettable folks, became a ten star Marathon Maniac (MM#816) and completed the World Marathon Majors. Among my most memorable are Boston, London and Comrades. Looking forward to seeing you at a start line, perhaps in the Caribbean or over yonder. May there always be a road. Walk good!
