Hartmann Stampfer

I am Hartmann Stampfer (63), Marathon runner living in Fié allo Sciliar, a small village in the province of Bolzano, surrounded by the Dolomites, in Italy. I’ve been working for the national railway company for a long time. My running career started in 2001 with a 12K run. So far (14 years), I finished more than 250 marathons and ultramarathons. What distinguishes me from others? I run each marathon only once. Therefore, in Italy I got the nickname “The Paganini of marathons”. I am not the fastest runner but - although I weigh over 90 kg (186 cm height) - I finished more than 150 marathons in less than 4 hours. My personal best time is 03:13:44, done in 2006. My longest run was the Berlin Wall Race 2011 (100 miles in a time of 23:38:59). In the year 2011-12 I ran 20 ultramarathons across four countries. I am a member of both the Italian and German 100-Marathon-Club. In the next years, my principal aim is to travel around the world, running marathons across several countries and continents.
